Silent Hill

Well, I really love Silent Hill so I thought I would make a thread to discuss it with others who like this game or play it.
What is Silent Hill? Silent Hill is a survival horror video game franchise, developed and published by Konami. In the series, the player takes control of an "everyman" protagonist traversing through the decrepit and nightmare infested remains of the town of Silent Hill. Typically, the storyline unravels a psychological repression regarding the cast of characters along with the tainted history regarding the eponymous town.

Silent Hill Orgins
Silent Hill Homecoming (5)
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
And it has been rumored they have a 8th one in the works.

So what do you guys think of the series? I personally love how the game has that themes of "in your head". With there being several types of realms of existence within Silent Hill.

2 and 3 are awesome.  I tried to go back to play the first, but the graphics have aged poorly, and doesnt do it for me anymore.

4 was originally another game they converted into a Silent Hill game so I'm kinda meh about it and have never realy played much of it.

The newer ones were made by a different team, and aren't really that scary like the first few, you always seem to have plenty of health and guns (i think youre an ex army guy in homecoming or something, it just takes away from the game being scary), rather than the early games runing around with only a lead pipe for a weapon, low on health going "OH FUCK OH FUCK I'M SO DEAD GOD HELP ME" that really added to the scariness.

ur not a ex marine, that alex guy thinks he is thats part of the story he finds out the truth about that town and his past and everything that happens/happened there

Yeah, turns out he wasn't in the army at all. The time spent away was in a hospital or something.

well regardless of what he is theres too many weapons in that game it wasnt really that scary

Yeah, that's why you use only the pistol and melee stuff in that game. Makes it more scary. Also in the newer games they handle the weapons with more ease. It was more realistic when the weapons were hard to use.

Like when in 2 you got the chainsaw which was effing epic but was somewhat hard to hit with
