Liking posts/Thumbs up
« on: March 26, 2011, 06:07:02 PM »
As seen on facebook and now youtube.

Instead of feeling the need to post, just to agree, or "lol" at someone, you can simply like what they said, make your presence known, and show which side of the argument you support. This might help avoid some worthless posts, that would of just been a quote and a "LOL", and so on. Idk.

So for each post, there would be a thumbs up, or down. I've seen this on other forums before, on individual users, and their posts, like I'm suggesting. I don't want the "karma" thing, that's exploitable and usually just a bad idea.

I've found myself wishing there was a liking or "thumbs up" feature for a while now. I'm not sure if it's possible on this forum though. If it is, LETS DO ITTTT.

It's not something we need, but I feel like the community would enjoy it.
This whole thing is a travesty.

For starters, Pillz is obviously the sexiest.

I've seen several forums (most prominently Facepunch) that use a rating system where you can rate a post agree, disagree, stupid, cute, bad spelling etc.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to have on here if possible.

That's the error of those ideas. I'm not suggesting any of that sh*t. Just liking.

Any negative thing implemented in this forum would be instantly made a tool of the "troll". Everyone would just rate shit badly, say something's cute or stupid for no reason, etc.

Just a thumbs up, or down. Perhaps even just a thumbs up/like. That's it. Like facebook, that way there's only positivity. This would just lead people to post "DISLIKE". we could delete such posts though, idk.

It's up to you guys, plus what's possible and already programmed out there..

System shows who rated what. It's different then smiting cause it's based on individual posts. It's not about the user more so the post.

Although I see what Pillz is saying with the negativity.

That's what I like about facebook. Now that I think about it, it might be depressing or upsetting to see people dislike some things, or if you got enough dislikes on something you'd probably just delete what ever you said. On facebook that is..

On here, I'd like it to be limited to only each and every post. Not people, and not just a whole thread. Like youtube comments, you can thumbs up it, or thumbs down it. Or, with the negativity in mind, just a thumbs up, or a like, or some new phrase we could come up with.
