So, I know basically everyone on here uses the Vintar (Including me), because it is a great sniper.
But since that Vintar nerf, that petition thread was made.
In all honesty, it balanced once an OP weapon.
-The recoil doesn't affect the gun too badly, why complain about such a SMALL, INSIGNIFICANT thing?
-Yes, the fire rate was reduced, but it's still SUPER fast compared to the scout.
This is like fucking youtube layouts in a nutshell: You people are just going to bitch and complain for them to revert them and end up not caring later on.
-
Why did you make a new thread when you could use the last one?
This is a very good question.
And no, not basically everyone here hates it.
EDIT: misread OP and said odd shit.
-
Dident tower already fix it?

To be fair I still hate the new YouTube layout and its been like 3 months.

There is no reason for it to be shittier than the scout, anyone can have a scout, Ts have to buy a vintar. And seriously? Why buy the vintar its shit now, supressing it shouldn't increase recoil or lower damage. A t sniper I feel should have same damage as its inno equivelant if it is silent or has a special ability, otherwise it won't be used.
-
I'm all for removing the vintar completely, I dunno why you all are complaining about having a T or D weapon that you don't use. I feel that way about all the special weapons and items. Some of them are convenient to use SOMETIMES; and a vintar is convenient when you want to snipe quietly. It's fine the way it is and the rounds will require harder work from Traitors now instead of being able to pick off 2-3 innos at a time.

A HS is still an insta kill. It does a little less body dmg but that's it.
The vintar has 33% less recoil than a scout
The vintar fires 50% faster than he scout
How is it not better again?

The vintar is used too much. I don't like walking around and finding that every single T is holding a vintar when they die, like it can get to the point late game where everyone has a vintar.
T weapons should be situationual, not an autobuy. If it that insanely popular, then maybe it needed a nerf? And no, not everyone can have a scout. On a lot of maps there are only a few. Sometimes a vintar will need to be purchased instead. I can pretty much guarantee people will use it less, isn't that the point of a nerf? Players use weapons because they're strong, if another weapon becomes better it will be used more. Maybe the T's will get more creative then just buying a knife/vintar/disguiser every single round.

The Vintar is a massive turn away for me and many other players.
There's nothing fun about one traitor being able to camp almost all the innocents with just the Vintar and the fact that everyone round every traitor usually buys one and goes into hiding on any remotely large map ruins it completely.

Being used alot is not a reason to nerf something. If that were the case, nerf the French and the deagle they are always ran for first or purchased immediately buy detective.

Actually that is the reason to nerf something, you want to promote it so that all the guns are viable.

So then it being over powered is not a reason to nerf it? Guess we better nerf the French and deagle while we are at it.

OP-ness and amount the gun is used come hand in hand. Frenchy is the most powerful shotgun, deagle most powerful pistol.
I wonder why they are most used?

Ah but Dante you forget. As a D you are a prime target, so the frenchie helps to balance that out, same goes for the T's AK, it gives him some firepower. The difference is they are not op, they are balanced. The vintar was slightly OP, especially in the sense it was both a long range and CQB weapon. Why would a sniper be a CQB weapon?? The fenchie isn't a long range weeapn.

And Because it is practically useless long range, and close risks deagle hs and the French.

It's only inaccurate if you use it in such a way to where it IS inaccurate; a high rate of fire and 30 bullet clipped gun with only 2 shot-headshot lethal capabilities is OP. You can also buy an infinite amount of it and it can be used at long range to if you use it correctly.
-
I always found it funny that the model for the Vintar is one of the worst fucking sniper rifles in existence IRL. Yet it was so damn OP in the right hands.
I agree that a sniper should not be a CQB weapon.
Keep it as it is...leave my fuckin MAC10 alone -_-

What do you mean you can buy an infinite amount of it? Even if you aim down site you still don't get very good accuracy. Very hard to headshot with at medium range.

If you single or burst fire you can make a fairly good distance with it. If you run out of ammo, you can throw down the AK and buy a new one with full ammo.

How? You can buy as many as you want without limit. Unless you're trying to rephrase in the meaning I am trying to say in which I will reword it: Unlike the vintar, if you run out of ammo you can throw the current weapon away and rebuy it with more ammo without there being any cap or limit to stop you from buying as many as you want. Only at the expense for a few seconds which is less than it takes to buy ammo.

Can't you do that with the vintar?
Anyway, the point is you don't have an infinite amount of credits.
-
The sound alone gives the shooter of an AK away, hence it is balanced, plus what llama said.

No, the vintar is a one buy only weapon. With the AK, if used wisely, a traitor can get 1+ credit with each vintar, not to mention other t kills getting you even more or picking up credits.

This can be said with the vintar too. It has a very distinguishable sound and many are able to hear it. This is problematic on small maps as once you hear a vintar, you will be in the same position as you could have been with an AK; and since the majority of the maps have people in such compact groups in such little range of eachother, the "stealthiness" of the vintar is near-nullified due to its, as said before, distinguishable sound.
Anyway the vintar's current nerf is a large leap from what it originally was and most of us are not willing to accept it in such little time. Though I still stand by my thought that it is now a weapon that is not worth a credit and it should be reset to the original state or buffed to a reasonable extent that is not as horrid as it currently is.

Well, I'm glad to here you don't think the vintar works in the same position as an AK would work, because it shouldn't. The vintar is meant for long range.
-
I think you guys are a little too quick to freak out. The ak, like most of the guns in ttt, is a two shot kill to the head and is pretty rapeass at close range, like most guns in ttt. The vintorez, like the scout, is one shot at any range plus it's quiter and shoots faster than the scout not to mention if you ever get close you can always use your hand cannon to take people down.

But you say it as if anyone can shoot it when not everybody can. Only a small fraction of people can use the vintar at such close range when faced against an automatic such as the mac-10. I feel like aiming was taken out of this as many people don't use the vintar and get 7+ hs per game, yet there is still a nerf that is really only affecting the people who are using it and its victims.
-
I just used the vintar, I wish the recoil was A little less though, everything else is fine.

It's supposed to be a bloody sniper rifle, use it as one.

The scout's fire rate isn't nearly as fast as the old vintar.
-
For god's sake... You do realize that the Vintar is STILL a 7 slot sniper?
A CONCEALED WEAPON! USEFUL! HELLO!?!
-
Here's how the Vintar is better than the scout -
PROS:
- faster fire rate
- less recoil
- much more quite
- Is put in slot 7, meaning you can have another weapon like the MAC-10 for close quarters
- Can be quickly switched out, shot, and switched back for a kill in a group
- Better at close quarters than scout
- Damn sexy
CONS
- Scout has a larger magazine size
- Scout reloads slightly faster
- Carries 5 less shots than the scout
- Can't carry c4, flare gun, AK, etc. whilst carrying it
- Slightly lower damage on a body shot
In short, it's still better. Maybe we should just give it the sound of a silenced pistol, so it's actually hard to hear, does that sound like a good idea? I personally prefer the flare gun, but it is still part of the arsenal. If it was really quite, it would be worth buying more.

Maybe make if like a buffed SG552? 15 shots, faster fire rate, lower dmg, 1-2 headshot kill?
-
I like the detective sniper the way it is, though if really needs something special why not traker bullets? When a detective shoots someone with it they leave a trail for an amount of seconds equal to the damage done?

That's a decent idea, but that might be a little ridiculous.
Couple of ideas: 5 shots, slow fire rate, high recoil, high damage, but with armor piercing rounds, so it is more effective against body armor - 2-3 headshot kill but disguise is removed on headshot - 2-3 headshot kill, 20 shots, fired slightly slower than M16, but with tracer rounds like above (we could use the hunter flechetes as the model for this) - Fires flechetes that do residual damage over 5 secs on top of on hit, weaker, slower fire rate, ~10 shots - 5 shots, does more damage the further away the target is (to make it useless at close quarters to prevent the old style of vintaring, as well as add another factor to it - at a certain distance, it would max out at a 90 damage body shot like the big bertha), multiple zoom levels like binoculars
-
That sounds waaaaay to complicated, plus a sniper should always be a 1 shot kill to the head. Also, I'm beginning to think the huge might be a tad too good.

LET'S GET A SCOPED MAGNUM FOR DETECTIVES.

I think it's fine. Find a scout and use it if you want best accuracy. It's a trade off. The vintar lets you be hidden (more or less), while the scout offers more accurate shots, but reveals your location (more or less).

All dat coding
I think the scoped M16 idea is the best one, as in CS:S that's what it actually does. The tracers are optional. The disguise removing headshot would probably be pretty easy to code - It would see the value of ttt_toggledisguise (or whatever it is), and if it is <0, it sets it to 0. If it is less than or equal to 0, nothing happens. I'm not sure if ULX does weapon stripping, but you could use that on them to get rid of the disguise kit.

The only thing I want to change is the sound it makes from less of a "Tink" sound to something else just to mess with people; find and add a new sound file for the shot and maybe make it a tad quieter than the current "EXTREMELY NOISY" vintar and bam everyone's happy except Tendovvi and that's okay. Now his T videos will be funner to watch. :p I agree in keeping the accuracy in it's current state; aren't silenced weapons a bit less accurate than when unsilenced? Meh

It's not a pistol though it shouldn't have the same sound, but eh it's not like realism really matters..
When you fire most pistol's at the firing range they simply just make a loud pop sound, when you fire a rifle or a .50 Deagle there's a deafening BANG sound when fired. I realize it probably sounds like the actual vintor or a similar silenced gun but I'd just find a new lower pitched sound more attractive to the idea of sacrificing your accuracy and clip size for a "Silencer".

Yeah - I meant that as a temporary thing, until we get a better silenced sound. It's just because of why you buy a silenced sniper - you want to kill people silently.

I still don't think anyone should ever expect silence from a gun, and I'm really fine with the way it is now I just think it'd be a good idea to appease people by making it a bit quieter. You know how you avoid the issue with the minor sound it creates? Create distractions, or wait for people to use the mic; etc. Level's need more ambiance in them IMO like canyon is just SILENT the entire time and I feel like I'm going insane if I don't have music on.

this one might be good. We'd cut off the shell falling, of course.

I think the current sound is appropriate, and it actually sounds somewhat like the vintorez in general. Honestly a sniper can't be silenced completely, and it does hide your position unless you're really close to the person.
I would link the video, but it seems to have been taken down.

Agree'd. Changing the sound seems like pointless effort, it is fine.

I have fallen in love with the Vintar sound, like ever since I heard it for the first time, everyone goes insane "KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN" and looking at sniping locations.

How about I use this for the silenced M16 when i get a chance to work on it?

My only issue with the Vintar is that it existed in its former form for years. It was never considered op before, and it was a huge balance change without any input from the members of the server or any notification.
I feel like the nerf was almost exactly targeted for people who could actually do good with it. I never saw people getting 5+ hs per game on a regular basis each and every round. Yet, despite what others said, people did use the AK and knife and did exceptionally good with it. But where are the complaints with this? All the nerf accomplished was make some players play less and just remove interest in the weapon since apparently it was deemed OP even after all the years it has been on the server. The ridiculousness in this is that the nerf, and the other weapon changes, seemed to create this gigantic mass of distaste in the server. Unlike what a few people thought, the vintar was not some weapon you could just buy and go kill 8 people easily with. No public vote was taken account for this and that mistake, of not receiving any input, led to this clusterfuck of complaints and bitching. All this affected were the minor group of us who used it and did good with it. Barely anything has changed when it comes to how well traitors do now; just very few snipers and more AKs, which, at the moment, still rape everything in front of them. Next time a change such as this goes into account there should be at least some kind of warning or vote or something that at least gives us an opportunity to decide as a group, the future of the server, to avoid threads like this or the other.

I don't use the vintar anymore it is practically useless, the sound is a dead give away, and since the noise does not spread out people can easily home in on it. The scout is a much safer and viable weapon now, especially since people generaly do not care about a few scout shots.

All I'll say is that if it's only affecting a small group of people than it shouldn't be that big of a deal...

I am not going to even describe how insensitive that is.

We are talking about a fucking video game. If the majority of people that play the game are content or can find a way around it than it shouldn't be a big deal.

It doesn't effect me so why should I care?
Here, let me fix that for you.

Stop being such an ass, it was a rebalance from where it had been effected from gmod 13 update. It was never intended to be as strong as it was for awhile.

How is raging about it effective?
One guy wants to quit the Community over A. Single. Game. Weapon. How is this acceptable behavior?
It is a game. Whining and raging over it does not help.
Being suggestive on improvements help. Showing how it is ineffective and should be adjusted, helps.
It is a simple weapon, which has a lot of advantages for the Terrorist to kill all others.
In its present state, it is very powerful, and I can see the argument it is over powered.
Just because it seems more limited now, and I have a feeling the hit boxes (crappy in the new Gmod) may be impacting its play directly, does not mean your life is over, and you should go die now.
If TTT is this important in your life, perhaps it is time to step away from the computer, and go outside.
And the tone people are posting with, needs to be not so asinine. Catch my drift?

I'm not, i'm trying to say that since a small group of people are unhappy maybe we should try and meet a median, where everyone is happy? And I understand that it isn't suppose to be that powerful, that's why I only used it in dire needs.
Edit: I am sorry that I came off as an ass I wasn't meaning to.

A small group of people will complain when any balance change is made in any game, especially if it effects how they play directly. Thats why its called balance, because it is the median where everyone can meet.

And that's why Modern Warfare 3 is more boring than Modern Warfare 2 in my opinion (aka your proposal of a "small group", because there aren't many that still prefer MW2 at all) because in MW2 you could abuse the shit out of noobtubes (not too say I was a noobtuber :P) and commando and overpowered umps and nuke bitches. Fun shit.
In MW3, can't do that, that then effects how I play directly. Excellent way to put it Kwaurtz. And then i complain and say mw3 is boring.
