http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/ea-almost-bought-valve-for-1-billion/EA actually attempted to buy valve in September of 2012.
However Gabe said "Valve would sooner disintegrate than sell out to a major publisher."
And then also saying, "the likelihood of his fiercely independent company selling to an Electronic Arts, or one of the other major multi-national publishers like Activision or Ubisoft, is about as likely Nintendo selling off the Mario brand."
HA!

Yeah EA has been scared because Origin sucks and Steam (while still flawed) is the best digital distribution hub for games bar none right now. Ever since Origin came out its been like yeah EA trying to beat Valve at their own game and FAILING HORRIBLY.
Only reason I have Origin is for Mass Effect 3.

I've been playing valve games since I was 6 , if EA ever bought Valve my respect would be lost for Gabe. But fortunatly, Gabe Newell knows how much of a risk he would take to let EA buy valve.

6? jesus. I was 3 times your age when Steam first came out! I honestly see noone but EA uber-fanboys siding with EA over Valve. Seriously Valve would be the best thing ever if they would LET US FINISH HALF LIFE

Basically Gabe=Greatest man ever.
Why? Because what man turns down 1 billion dollars, by stating that he would rather break his own company then sell out? The greatest man of them all that's who.
Valve, you have a customer for life.

Not to mention he has been giving Developers a jump start into the game industry. And that he once bought the worlds biggest burger for his staff. (It may not be the biggest but it was twice the area of his stomach.

I'm glad that Gabe didn't give up Valve. At least he cared about giving people a start of sharing their own creations. Gabe all the way!
Now EA, I am still waiting for you to give us Mass Effect 3 on Steam. I don't want to buy from your Origin bullshit.
