I never played any of the total war series. I'm big into strategies, but havent tried this one. What are some of the perks of it versus starcraft or sins of a solar empire?
+ It's a turn based strategy game/real time strategy for the actual battles. You are allowed to auto-resolve battles but you leave it in the hands of AI. Actually being able to control troops in a lot of fun and is the selling point of the game. Otherwise it would be a Civ rehash.
+ Graphics are starting to drastically improve, different models for each individual soldier. Campaign map looks gorgeous.
- Multiplayer, here's the thing with Total war in my opinion. It's a hit or miss thing. Some titles like Rome Total War, (The original back in 04 ?) was great with multiplayer. They still have a good community there. Empire/Medieval had pretty dead multiplayer lobbies and I felt like it was more single player oriented.
Honestly, Rome 2 is the god child of the series and can either doom it or elevate it. I would recommend trying out other titles in the game if you're hesitant on spending $60. Either Rome or Shogun 2.
HOW FAR WILL YOU GO FOR ROME?
