Hmm. Can you do an uninstall / reinstall of the game? Or have you not let it update?

I've got a lot of custom stuff on it and terrible download speed so I'm kinda trying to prevent having to reinstall because yahh...

I would not bother with reinstalling Garry's Mod. Plenty of people fall back to that for a quick fix but it never works and always ends up with you losing your previous Garry's Mod data. It's likely something to do with your network or Steam.
