I want to know what you think about DayZ Standalone and it's coming release. Also if anyone knows when exactly the game will come out, please reply to when.

So according to pillz's link there isn't a set release and it sounds like it could be a while before they get one.
Either way, I enjoyed the ARMA2 mod. A standalone sounds like it would be very successful. I think this will top all of the other zombie games currently out there, not that you can necessarily compare them.

I just hate the idea of surviving the zombies but getting ganked by a group of shithead humans, wouldnt it be better to build a huge group of survivors and just mow zombies?

Not really, for the most part the zombies provide no threat if you are seasoned to the game at all, its why I've started playing Dayz+ which ups their damage, and reduces a lot of the players weapons, speed, loot, etcs.

The devs have suggested that the standalone will be released sometime in February, although with the ArmA 3 devs arrested in Greece that might get delayed again. Either way it's going to be great. I've played a lot of Dayz myself and have found that generally the custom maps are more fun than the default so I'm hoping for support for them.

I like how everyone assumes slow zombies wouldn't pose any threat. They would.
I wish games would understand that. Few have, but some do.
Dead Rising has slow zombies, not the best example, but games tend to not use slow zombies. It's annoying.

The thing is though, it's the player to player interaction that makes Dayz fun. You can go around killing zombies but they just come back so it gets old pretty fast.

Which poses a greater threat, a single slow zombie or a single Pillz zombie that's jumping off tables and doing spins in midair?

If there was a stand alone, would that affect the gameplay of people who bought combined operations?
