Free Games and Half-Life Series Mods
« on: January 22, 2013, 03:45:20 PM »
I want to start recording playthroughs of Mods and Indie games (Lesser known games, not Slender and Minecraft.)
However, I've got little experience with mods for Half-Life series (I can't tell by first glance which are good and which aren't)

So far I've got this mod again
http://www.moddb.com/mods/get-a-life -Get a Life Mod (It was great from what I remember.)

Could you guys recommend any Indie games/Half-Life Series mods you know of and believe are good?
I'm also looking for any good Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas Mods.

Does anyone also know of any other sites besides Moddb where I could find more mods?

Edit: Also if you got any good Crysis mods, I'll take those.

Thanks in advance

Cry of Fear and Afraid of Monsters come to mind. For a good mod resource, check out this place - http://www.desura.com/
It's like steam, but with mods.
There's Black Mesa, Grey, Triage, Residual Life, Half-Life 2: Wars (a HL2 RTS), and many others.
Cheers!

Hopefully you've heard of NMRiH as well.

Nightmare House 2 was really good for a rookie team, they recorded a LOT of their own audio including tons of dialog, and they made really cool uses of triggers for scripted events in the source engine, no spoilers but there are some really awesome creepy things that the game does that few games have taken advantage of.

It's not super scary, though there is definitely a constant feeling of "oh hell no" but it gets less scary once you realize most AI enemies are cut and paste from HL2 with customized models that look far different from their original forms

Luna started the rover's engine.  "AEIOU!" She shouted as she slammed the gas and crashed through the wall.

HL 1 Mod

Science and Industry. IDK if there are any servers anymore.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/science-and-industry

Last year for my old community I started a porject.

The Half-Life 1 Mod revitalization project.
I was hosting Brain Bread/Science and Industry/TFC and a couple other mods.

I love HL 1 for this reason and I hope that Valve will some day release a sucessor so we can start this all over again.

cheers,
