Monkey, many here do not build their own, as they do not have the expertise, nor someone to show them how to.
Sure, if you know how to, its easy, and you could use old parts off the older system (which I believe, Yahtzee will be giving to his Bro, so he does not have to share...)
But, if you have no clue, and no support for your first time building, it can be a mess.
I have floated this idea past Yahtzee before, and he does not have the knowledge, nor the back up to do it.  So he wants pre-built and little hassle.

I generally just go to dell mostly because my mom doesn't trust my to build my own.  I kind of doubt you could get a comp strong enough for bf3 for $500, but it's worth a shot.  Mine was somewhere between 600-700 and it can run it max graphics, you could try asking a family member or someone to spot you $200 for christmas XD and get something higher end.  It should be able to play all the modern games for quite a while, but if there's no way you can raise your budget you could also try looking for used comps, but that's always risky.  And then obviously you might be able to find new ones that meet the specifications as well.  Good luck!

There's your budget build.. Have fun with that.. You'll never get a pre-built PC that'll run games for less than $600-$700. Yeah, yeah. I know I'm uber late. Blah blah blah..

Take your parts to Best Buy, local Computer shop, etc. to get it built for you... It's not that hard, and you'll only pay $50-ish. Fuck, I'd do it for $25 if you sent the parts to me and paid for shipping.

THIS.

Honestly building a PC is a piece of cake, the only problem being the individual problems that come up with more complicated parts, IE a cooling system that requires you to install tubing and fans. Though usually you can just plug a new hard drive into the hard drive slot, plug it into the mobo and you're good. S'long as you got a good PCU and all that Jazz.

If you don't know how to put a computer together, try taking one apart if you ever get the chance. Just make sure not to lose any screws. It's like 5-10 parts, depending on your computer, and the cords that connect em.  If you still don't know what to do, or don't even want to do that, just look up how to take apart a computer on youtube, or something.. It's why I think having a desktop PC beats having a laptop or Mac anyday, since you can fix what's broken and upgrade as times move on.

After you know all that it's just a matter of what parts to get, what case you have and how much you pay.

This whole thing is a travesty.

For starters, Pillz is obviously the sexiest.
