General Gaming Talk / Re: Dungeons and Dragons/Tabletop Game Thread!

Everyone, monsters and players alike roll an initiative roll to determine who goes first in turns (each round is approx. 6 seconds essentially) unless someone is ambushing someone else in which case there are rules for a "surprise round" but normally each round each character can use a move action and a standard action and any number of free actions, but you dont have to do all those things, you can also "hold your turn" and use your turn later in the round.  you move based on movement speed (most characters have a base of 30ft. per turn), then make attack rolls to see if you beat the AC of whatever is being attacked, if so then roll damage, then continue, if not then it is a miss.  Rolling a 1 could result in crictical failure, and a 20 (or sometimes more than just on 20) is a crictical hit.  At higher levels it is possible to attack multiple times (when attack reaches +6, you have a +6 first attack then a +1 second attack for example) and there are things like grappling and whatnot which is a pain in the butt.  After every character/monster/whatever has taken their turn, that round is over and a new round begins.  rinse and repeat until the monsters are dead, or the party is dead (in which case players will be pissed haha)

This is a bit vague and generalized because we play 3.5 or D20 or Pathfinder and sometimes mix and match some of the rules to have a more enjoyable system to play in.

All of us prefer not the spend hundreds of dollars on these books cause we have better things to buy.  I have a friend who owns all the books anyways so I could just borrow them, PDF's are MUCH easier to find what you are looking for because of the SEARCH function, so with indexes there is much less time wasted trying to figure out which of the 30 books you need at the time when they are PDF's.

The problem with planning so far as to make a fancy map is that inevitably the players will wish to venture somewhere off the map and then you wasted time haha, unless you railroad them or "DM says no" usually we use sketched out maps or try and contain the whole game world on one map so theres no leaving it haha

Until they find a way into another plane of course...

Help Section / Re: Better graphics card.

I use a MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III which is based around the 570 GTX card, really good card for the low price (mine cost me $200 on ebay) 1280 meg and with the MSI software (I have a moderate fan speed curve set up, and so far the max it has needed to run at is 70% of the max fan speed) this thing idles at 30c and peaks around 50-55ish and that is when playing mass effect 3 multiplayer at max graphics for like 3 hours straight.  Love this card so hard

Maybe me, Chris or Bunneh could put one up and share if we ever want to play.

I suggested that to Bunn3h but she is so busy these days D=  Perhaps if there was a place that would be cheap I mean, it is only ZM

I tried getting a group together a couple times but it fell apart, the old players are too busy now it seems, I've seen groups of people on it sometimes but rarely.  I can understand if it needs to be removed.

That could actually be awesome, but you have to have an arcade stick so keyboard would be useless unless somehow it had a built-in arcade stick

People play fighting games on PC?  I didn't even know such things existed, nevermind on steam.

You guys jealous? Don't be. I can send these to you if you want  ;D.

I might be missing one or two but pretty much got all thems.  My friend whose house we play at has pretty much all the books for 3.5, Pathfinder, and D20 so we have them all in pdf as well.

Well I'm interested in none of those (battlefield and CoD are like my least favorite games generic FPS blech) maybe a friend of mine will get one so I can play bayonetta but thats the only thing I would care about on the WiiiU right now.  Also this must be a record for the fewest games available at a console launch

My pikmin gamecube game won't work on my Wii and it makes me sad that I can't play it.

Rather, I can play it, but the saves corrupt every time I load the game the next time to keep playing.
