Title: Choosing a keyboard
Post by: Blackllama on August 03, 2012, 07:29:37 PM
I'm looking for a keyboard.

I do not want to spend over 100$, although you can find some things significantly cheaper on ebay or amazon so I may still go for keyboards above that range.  Not that I want to spend that much.

Right now it's between these:

And for mechanical keyboards:

I feel like I'm either getting the steelseries merc for the addition on the side which looks very useful, or one of the two mechanical keyboards.

Between the two mechanical I'm leaning towards the steelseries 6gv2 simply because it has cherry black mx switches compared to the cherry blue mx switches the razer blackwidow has.

Info on switch types for those uninformed. (http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide#post_6009482)

Still undecided though.  Making this thread for opinions and input.  What keyboards do you weirdos use/like?  Anybody tried mechanicals before?

Um, I would just get a simple IBM usb keyboard and call it good.  Oh, wait. I did...

If you want something to outlast all others, get a "click" or "spring" or mechanical keyboard as they are the best.

Here is an example: Sadly it is over your $100 price, but the IBM model M keyboard can be found on Ebay.

I'm 90% sure im gonna get a mechanical, I've decided I don't want the blue switches of the blackwidow and the sgv2 is gonna cost like 85$ for black switches when I like the idea of red better.

Looked around at cherry red mx keyboards and found Corsair Vengeance K60 which looks like a sexy beast.  Goes for 110$, but I found it for 75$ so I'll probably go for that.

Tomorrow gonna go hop around stores and see if any have some mechanical keyboards I can try out and get a feel for.

I like mechanical keyboards.. They have a solid feel to them. I dunno, personal opinion I suppose.

I'll be honest I have the G15 and it is a really nice keyboard. Very responsive and has nice bonus functions. I'd recommend it to anyone. No issue so far and its pretty old now.
