Title: Favorite Pokemon game?
Post by: Old Crow on May 16, 2012, 04:17:43 PM
Which one is your favorites and why?

Gold is mine. It felt like a very good jump off the platform they put down with Red/Blue. There is just so much to do, the world is varied and interesting, there is breeding, there are many more items and there is room for the game to grow.

And your character wears his hat backwards  Meme3

Emrald is part of the diamond/pearl series right? Green originally came out in Japan, as they had Blue/Green when we got Red/Blue. I don't think there really no difference, or there is a slight difference.

Emerald is third generation. It's the 2nd year Ruby/Sapphire.

Third generation is by far my favorite...

Played blue, was like 8 or something and it was awesome. Played yellow, it was even better. Played Silver, it was the coolest thing ever, I mean come on, 252 pokemon? Whaaat? Third Generation was the best and the last one to do it right, I played Saphire, and then I played Emerald 2/3 times in middle school because we were always trading, racing and battling. That one never got old to me and was just so well done, the world was incredibly fun to navigate and wasn't too complicated. It kept the neatness and simplicity that red and blue had but did the new generations of pokemon right and the pokemon were wicked sick; and I liked how some older gen pokemon inhabited the world also; and Team Magma/Team Aqua? Talk about the most badass villians since Team Rocket; even Team Rocket was a bit goofy but all the villains after were silly as fuck. Emerald was the king of all pokemon games.

Gen4 and Gen5.. meh. I played Pearl and 3 Gym badges into Platnium; it was a very decent game and was fun to play but at this point I started to lose faith as the pokemon all looked.. fluffy and cuddly. I was too dissapointed in the newer games and totally won a bet from 10 years ago that they'd one day resort to black and white when they run out of colors to do. Black was really cool too and I honestly haven't beaten it yet, but was constantly frustrated with the layout of the game in general and lost interest.

HeartGold was a good reboot also; really enjoyed it, and it completes the pokedex cycle since after firered/leafgreen made Gen1 pokemon more available to later games.

TL;DR- Gen3 Ruby/Saphire = 1st, Gen2 = 2nd, Gen 1= 3rd, Gen4= 4th, Gen5= 12th

The GBA generaton was best.  Firered/leafgreen were great, sapphare/ruby were great as well, and emerald was fantastic.  Spent most time on those.
