Is there Freewill or our actions controlled by outside forces
GO
-
BRAINFUCK
-
we allready had a discussion about this i think.
I don't believe in any higher powers so this is fairly easy for me... besides, if you had life and you knew you were controlled every step why would you even want to live anymore?
-
My dick is a higher power.
(on topic) NOPE. There is no such thing as fate or destiny. The future is only determined by our choices and conseqence.
-
There is no such thing as free will or destiny, there is a thing called life though

so basically what you are saying is that there is no such living being inteligent as us
so we don't mentally exist?
because free will is a laaaaaaaaarge thing when it comes to inteligence and discovery
-
Idk, i thought it'd spark a bunch of replys.....
But!
Yeah Free will is there, but who is to say there is or isn't fate, we won't ever know since when we die we don't know whats next
-
Herp Derp, what is faith. I agree with Jorgen, srsly. So High power guys control humans that commit suicide, way to go (bro).
-
Unless you can prove the existence of a supreme being (God, fate, whatever), there is zero reason whatsoever to reject the notion of free will. Sure, there are environmental factors that limit our freedoms, but free will is literally a scientific characteristic of our species, being self-conscious organisms and all that stuff.
-
Even with the existence of God, you would still have free will.
Destiny is just one way for people to either confirm their life's actions or blame their own terrible decisions on something other than themselves.

Well, it depends on the type of God. Christian/Jewish/Muslim God, then yeah, although it could probably be argued that any god who intervenes in human affairs, performs miracles, etc., pollutes or tampers with our free will.

Well, I guess I would have to say that even if they do, we wouldn't really know about it, and would still make decisions by our own thought processes, unless we were confronted by said deity, which would change everything, lol.
-
Likely. I mean, there COULD be the possibility of a higher being up there that controls us but I'm doubtful of that. I mean in some cases we may not always have free will.

freewill is a conspiracy made up by the government.
srsly
PS
I feel like everything we do is planned out and we just follow this plan.

or to not have to feel like you have to have a direction in life. Just saying, there's prolly some reason that you don't want to have to feel like you are in charge of your decision-making, but you are.
here's a quote I once found and now sits on my facebook.
Regardless of who or what has influenced us, we are ultimately responsible for what we do with our lives. Choices we make decide who we become. Even if our choices aren't absolutely free, they are still our choices, and no one can make them for us.
-
We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us.

even with the enviromental limitators, like social extortion and so forth. I could still not give a damn rip my clothes off and run trough town naked...
