If you don't know, which I'm probably guessing you don't, I'm the creator of ttt_shippingcenter_b1, and ttt_digdown_b1.

Digdown is my more popular map, as shippingcenter was the first map I ever created for Trouble in Terrorist Town.

But, I started my new mapping project 5 days ago (from this posting date), on a little blog recorder I have.

I'm going to post my updates in this thread if people are interested, feedback is very appreciated

*It seems you need to scroll over horizontally to see the entire image.  These images are drastically reduced in size to accommodate for that*

Since my other two maps were indoors, I'm going to try a mixture of outdoors and indoors on this map to spin things up a little bit.

The map is going to be based off of some sort of concentration camp out in the woods.

Day 1 (not much done at all, except the 3d skybox):

Also, the sewer system is going to run under the map.  Various buildings will connect down into it, as well as the border surrounding the map.

Added two new buildings, the "housing", if you will.  Don't worry about people camping in these, the map is being designed so that you can't just lock yourself in a corner and hide the whole round.  I just want to leave a little bit of gameplay not shown in the screenshots for people exploring to find themselves.

Quick update, the outside of this building will come soon once I finish it.  I still have another floor of the building to do with windows and all so it might be a bit.

You can see the real-time reflection technique used as well.  I haven't seen it used in a map before, so I decided to go ahead and do it.

I apologize for the lack of updates.  I was at lacrosse camp for 5 days, when i got back my power supply unit in my pc had a capacitor get fried (hopefully the video card or anything else was not damaged).  It will be a few days before i have the parts to fix my computer.  I am typing from an iphone.

Good news.

I fixed my computer.  Well, rather rebuilt the entire thing because I needed a new case as well as power supply.  But after 2 days of deconstructing and rebuilding the computer I'm going to get back onto this ASAP.

Also, ideas are highly appreciated.  I know people want some sort of gas chamber, but why would innocents walk into a gas chamber?  Maybe guns or something, but I don't want people to rush into it before the traitors could control the chamber.  There would need to be a reason for them to go in.

Any other building ideas are great, too.

Problem is the map isn't necessarily a linear gameplay.  There are buildings and many directions you can go from them.

I see. Although you could make something vital in the gas chamber such as weapons or other things, like an underground escape passage that lead to an underground network.

Thats what I was thinking, maybe weapons or something.

Problem is though if innocent players rush before the round starts to grab them.  So I'm a little stuck here in terms of the gas chamber.

What I'm currently working on is the main center where Nazi camp leaders would kind of be.  A nicer building, carpeting inside, banners around.  Once I finish the exterior of the building I'll throw up some pictures.  This is probably the most detailed part of the map as of now simply because of the design on the inside and out.

I'm currently testing with a new reflection technique that I haven't ever seen a map use, and that I discovered.  It uses func_reflection_glass, but under a transparent texture.  This will give real-time reflections and a slight sense of realism.

You could have the gas chambers start closed and only be activated after a certain amount of time or only opened by a traitor. Anyways the map is looking good!

have a time controlled door
the door opens in lets say 1 minutes
and to get to the room where the traitors would initiate the gas to come out the button to open that door (to the traitor room) would just need a filter for only traitors to come in and then have a 1 way glass/texture
and at the end of the gas chamber is a dead end with a buttload of good ammo/guns

Well I figure most peolple here won't care about nazi propaganda or logos as long as it isn't directly attacking a type of person.  Most of us have played a World War 2 game where stuff like this is present.

I fixed some FPS issues people with lower end video cards had.  The original V1 was released a few days ago and this should fix any issues people may have.

its a well made map but seems a little open and could be hard for traitors
on ttt maps i personally think they should have a few isolated spots were "incidents" can occur

There's a B2, but your community seems a little to sensitive to host maps relating to World War 2, so I suggest not even bothering.

I'll stick to other communities with my maps from now on.

I don't really want to see the butthurt admins from the other thread. I honestly don't care if you hate my map or despise it, it's when you start saying it's racist is the thing that ticks me off.

Racism = Race

It doesn't hurt any form of religion either.  It doesn't attack jews, and it shows history that happened.  Please go play a world war 2 game.

The pure stupidity from the other thread astonishes me, and I find it interesting that absolutely no other community has brought forward this issue because they can actually understand a few simple ideas.

Just please, if you say something, know what you're actually saying in relation to other games made.

I really won't even take account to other stupid posts made because it has no effect in what I create.

If I went and made the CoD5 map where Germans marched through germany, it would be no different.


Just remember.

Millions of Americans died in World War 2, and we play those games.

Ill just leave this here.  Only difference is you're just playing the map, not shooting those people.  :)

As a mapper, I've never seen this Real-time reflection technique, Can you direct me to where I can find out/ tell me how to do this? It looks really neat.

This being my territory I allow this to remain open. I do not see a map being made with nazi symbols as being racist.  IF IT WERE ANOTHER MAP NOT THEMED LIKE THIS THEN I WOULD HAVE.

There will be no tolerance for flaming here, so keep it on topic.

You can use real time reflection for waters and such, but as far as mirroring objects from a solid surface : It's possible, it just doesn't render models. Oh yeah and a pain in the ass :)

a few people disagreed but their will ALWAYS be people that disagree
not really a huge issue
as long as the map doesn't have a supporing or intolerance or racism theme which it doesn't it in no real way promote bigotry or intolerance (i know it has swastikas but no pro nazi propoganda or anti antisemitism is in play on this map a general location can't be defined as racist in any way)
also i took a holocaust class 1 semester long and it was a very interesting course so i know a pretty good deal over the average high schooler
not saying that makes me right just that i have attempted to be informed on this debate
i don't see why people are getting mad at each other :(

I kind of thought it up myself, I hadn't seen it used either.

Basically throw a func_reflective_glass for where you want your floor, make it very thin.

Next, make a func_brush with whatever texture you want to be reflective over the glass.  Make that very thin as well.

Make the func_brush semi-transparent.  Bingo, floor reflection.

But, you need to place an "invisible" brush over all the floor as well, very thin, so that bodies and such don't fall through.

So it's kind of 3 layers really.

Glad to see the higher ups, agree with me  as well. People with a lack of knowledge on Germany/Prussia/Bavaria which ever you would prefer, seem to be misinformed when it comes to the icons and symbols from their culture.

For those of you who think bikers with the IRON CROSS are racists either read up. I have a white and black t-shirt with the Iron Cross that I can't wear because of retards like those who fail to understand history and cultures of Germany and it's surrounding people.
