I was 11 when the last one came out. I was still playing on a Wii. They said that they were waiting for some big breakthrough in tech, maybe they were talking about getting the Steambox off the ground.
Wait, hl1/2 on the Wii? What?

They're just sitting on the domain, don't jizz your pants unless Valve actually say it's happening soon.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care for HL3?

I'm with you. I stopped caring like 2 years ago.

If I don't want to listen to people yakking on Vent/Teamspeak, why would I want to listen to a CG podcast?  :P

"Oh wow you guys are making a thing for all of CG? Haha fuck that I don't want it, I don't listen to you going on and on on vent so I don't care to hear it on a podcast, so don't upload it"

This is how you sound. :P

Anyway, Hl3 is honestly only going to be a disappointment to those that hype it - Read: to those who HYPE it, wait for it to come out, don't have ANY expectations for it, and then it'll make you enjoy it even more than it may do if it turns out only to be "decent" and not live up to hype.

Also, don't jizz your pants over trademarks, they're just parking the domain, and it could come out any time from now to next decade, really. Just calm down and let things happen.

I wish people understood to do this, because so many people should do this

I have hope for things like games we know will eventually come out.  Valve is great at doing whatever the fuck they want, which is not always what the fans want. :P

I have hope that Pokemon X/Y will be awesome

Remember Duke Nukem Forever?

I'm with the people who will believe it's coming out when they actually put something substantial up. But I'm also kind of wary about quality, since the HL2 series in general is amazing, and finishing up an epic series well can be quite the challenge.

That is a major issue. The difference is however, that Gearbox was limited with what they had to accomplish on the engine that they were handed, otherwise it would have taken even more time to release. They saw no point into completely redoing the game for the 10th time.

Also Steam doesn't have any of the financial problems that 3D realms had.

I think personally, Valve is going to launch HL3 and L4D3 with their new OS/Steam box. It only makes sense because every console needs an exclusive launch title to sell it (except Nintendo, cause y'know they don't care). That will be Steams exclusive launch title.

I agree with OC on the fact that 1.) Nintendo gives no fucks and 2.) every system in modern day times, not looking back on older gens, have always had their baby games that make people want to go with their product.

I think it's well within the realm of possibility that they can make a game at least as good as hl2 anyways. If it is on par it will still be amazing, it's not like it has to be better.

Mass Effect 3 was a pretty amazing game. It polished up just about everything in ME2 quite beautifully, imo. Didn't stop hordes of people from saying that the 20+ hour game was terrible just because of the ending, though.

As for the Duke Nukem reference, I meant that more along the lines of how it was vaporware for so long. If there's anything Valve has proven, it's that they can put out a good game, so that much I'm not worried about, but there are a lot of ways they can take the story. Do they wrap it up? Do they do the DLC story extensions again? Do they just line up another game?

Pretty much. Until it's an official announcement from Valve, or there are some definitive gameplay trailers leaked, I'm just going to take everything with a huge mountain of salt. HL3 is basically the new Duke Nukem Forever in terms of long awaited sequels.
