just as the title says, can someone name some good, FREE, independently-made video games I could possibly download that won't tax my shitty video drive too much? just like something I can download, and jump right into?
just so you can get an idea of how my PC handles, I can run most Valve games fine except on the newer ones like L4D2 and TF2 I have to lower my graphics settings completely, but then it runs fine. I just want shit I can play and have fun with on my bad computer.

Indie games are pretty much the one thing you won't find for free, unfortunately. Otherwise, about the only thing you can do is hope for some sort of special, or stick to game aggregation sites like ArmorGames/Kongregate/etc.
If you're not beyond pirating stuff, you can always download an emulator (GBA/NDS, not sure how good the newer console emulators are, though) and pirate some games. Was basically how I killed the time when I didn't have internet for 3 days.
Damn you Golden Sun and your points of no return :(

See if there are any beta versions of indie games like papers please or AoS floating around.
Actually in the case of AoS, just go download BuildandShoot which is a game that recreates the old beta version that you can download for free.
Asides from that, there's also abandonware games like Daggerfall.
Look up a game called Berzerkquest too

Free and fun: Desktop Dungeons. Simple, fun, addictive, free.

edit: fixed link, apparently now they are making a fancy version that costs money, this link goes to the original, free game.
