Well think of it this way; if you kill 2 people, they would have no restrictions in coming back to kick your ass when you least expect it.
While that is true, the reason I think NLR is a pain in the ass is because if some ****got comes in, mows you down with a SAW (H.U.G.E.) because you were unprepared, and steals your printer, you're screwed. And now you can't spawn a new printer because for some mysterious reason you hit the limit, and according to NLR you don't remember having any printers out. And also, NLR is subtracting from gameplay more than its adding to it. Now you have a reason to veer away from that building over there because if you go near it, the one who stole your printer will just say "NLR NLR NLR YOU'RE A ****GOT YOU NEED TO RESPECT NLR GTFO NEW****!!!!"
However, an alternative I enjoy is what they do on Noobonic Plague which is Revenge DM. (It's RDM but with a new meaning for the R.) If someone kills you, you have the right to kill them back once, since if they kill you, you shouldn't be able to remember that and go back around killing them every time you see them because you have some sort of rivalry. That ruins it. Of course, Noobonic Plague has a built in system for this. We could get one if we wanted, but it's easier just to make it a known rule.
Disclaimer: I know I have been over-critical describing why NLR is a bad rule but that seems to help get the point across, and I enjoyed writing it. And also, I noticed the phrase **** or ****got may be abundant here but I 100% support ****s, I just have a separation in my mind between **** the gay or **** the insult.
