Tell us some of the things you like, my list of good shit is super long and might as well save us the trouble of listing shit you won't like.

Except Azumanga Daioh.  (The english dub is awwwwwfuuuuullll it sucks so bad they make one of the girls sound like a texas redneck so make sure you watch it with subtitles instead!)
It may look stupid but it is one of the funniest anime ever made and if you like anime and don't like Azumanga Daioh you are dead to me.
The compilation book of the entire manga it is based on is the size of a bible, and is also really good, but not as good as the show because reasons.

If you haven't seen them, here are some:

- Ouran High school host club (The best reverse harem ever created)
- Code Geass (just watch it)
- Sword Art Online (LN's for this were a nice read)
- Infinite Stratos (I enjoyed it)
- Kotoura-san
- Steins Gate (if you give this a chance and dont drop after episode 3, this anime will be worth)

oh and obviously
- Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

I don't really know what you are looking for, as recommendations go, so here are just a few I like. I have a few lists of things I've watched in the passed few years, so if you want more just ask.

Cromartie High School (anime) - Really great all around comedy. I would probably regard this as the most funny anime out there. Watch this one dubbed.

WataMote (both) - Newer series, great comedy that most internet lurkers can relate to.

Oyasumi Punpun (manga) - This series is pretty dark. Starts off as a coming of age but things get pretty grim. A must read if you like dark, long reads.

Aku no Hana (both) - Somewhat dark tone as well except this one is more down to earth and doesn't get quite as bad as Oyasumi. Manga is somewhat better and quite a bit longer.

Usagi Drop (anime) - Really heartwarming series. Nice artstyle and a must see if you like some of the sad/heartwarming type shows.

Samurai Champloo (anime) - If you have seen or liked Cowboy Bebop you may like this quite a bit. Basically a spiritual successor to CB although it's not as serious and obviously drastically different setting.

What shows have you seen so far? I could probably recommend more if I knew what you watched but I don't want to be throwing a bunch out that you probably already seen xD

Surprised nobody posted Gintama. It's a funny anime once you get a few episodes in, as a bunch of the first few episodes are character introduction and an attempt to make an Action anime instead of the comedy one it has today.

Still airing today I think (There's no Dub)

I was going to say Gintama, I fucking love Gintoki and his crew and they keep making me laugh.

Theres Also Bebob
Spice and Wolf
Kuroshitsuji II if you haven't seen it.
Robotech (I find it funny due to the actors voices and how they all look like versions of shaggy. Some good action scenes too.)
I heard Eyeshield is good, haven't read it personally.
If you liked Rosario there is: Is this a zombie?

I'd say start with Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Molk put it perfect, its an easy series to approach and wrap your head around.

Code Geass would be the next series after that. Much more at stake, better character development, things get crazy in the second season, and it has a mix of everything in it.

while on the subject, if you guys havent noticed:

-Naruto: Shippuden is showing on Toonami. Don't know if its uncut, but it most likely is
-Original Naruto restarted, so now would be a good time to watch it if you missed it while living under a rock. It is uncut, so blood and swearing intact
-Blue Exorcist is coming in March. Don't even know what that is.

I haven't really watched a ton of anime, but here's a short list of what I can recommend:

Fullmetal Alchemist/Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: This show I recommend even to people who aren't into anime. it's highly approachable and frankly my favorite series of all time. FMA tries everything; comedy, action, drama, gut-wrenching tragedy, and succeeds on all fronts. No matter what you're into, you'll probably find something to like here. There are two series, FMA (2003) and FMA:B (2009). Both are very good, but they are different. FMA (2003) is slower and more drama focused, while FMA:B is fast-paced and action packed. It doesn't really matter which you go with, although I do suggest watching the first season of FMA (2003) if you plan to only watch Brotherhood, because Brotherhood assumes you know everything and flies through that content.

Code Geass: A more predominately action based title, but a good one nonetheless. It's your typical fighting robot mechs deal, but spices things up with optimism vs cynicism arguments and a hero whose sanity is in question. A really good watch up until the second season where the show just kinda rolls over and pisses on itself.

Kotoura-San: Okay, this show is weird. Not you typical Japanese subway tentacle monster weird but instead strange in its structure. The first ten minutes of the show is non-stop tragedy as a young psychic realizes her powers alienate her from everyone and is pushed to the edge to the suicidal depression. The rest of the show is a comedy, with tragedy occasionally sprinkled in. The comedy itself is decent, but I have to suggest the show just for those crazy ten minutes in the first episode.

And Molk wins the award for being descriptive. I think I'll give Code Geass and FMA/B a shot after reading this.

Anybody recommend Ghost in the Shell?

(I grew up off Detective Conan and Inuyasha; I don't know if I'd recommend Detective Conan, though.)

Make sure you watch Brotherhood and not the original, the original series was mediocre, and Brotherhood is amazing.

Code Geass is on my list of 'to be watched'

I loved the first season of Ghost in teh Shell Stand Alone Complex, I think the second season was called 'Second Gig' but I was distracted by other shows and never watched the second season.

Bitch, I'm 2%. Anyway, there comes a point in the second season where it just feels like the writers are pulling things out of their ass to keep raising the stakes. After a certain someone is defeated and the fleijas get involved I start liking it again, but the in between is just too "fillery".

Naw man, the season moves super fast, adds a ton of characters and manages to tie up all lose ends. That and since I love me some mechs, the battles are better as well.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most convoluted animes in existence, and has slightly different endings, depending if you watch the one that came with the series, or the one depicted in the original movie's death and rebirth of Evangelion. And now we have the rebuild of Evangelion, which is a remake of the entire series into four movies, and its god damn brilliant.

I'm currently re-watching the entire series, is there a proper order to watch all of the movies and such?  I want to watch all of them (including the older ones) once I finish the episodes.

Watch Death and Rebirth first, then End of Evangelion. Death and rebirth are remakes of the episodes 24/25 stretching them out long and adding more information, as well as giving a more real world account of the ending rather than the original clusterfuck. End of Evangelion is also a redo of the second part of episode 25 and then episode 26 as well.

Yeah when I looked it up it was confusing as shit because there was so many remakes.

I'm debating waiting until the fourth and last movie in the "Rebuild of Evangellion" series comes out to watch any of those, if I'm going to watch them all I'd rather not have to wait an entire year for the last part.

Supposedly the last Rebuild movie is slated for Winter 2015 but that's only from a Japanese magazine and the movies have been delayed multiple times. Also official website has no release date.

I still think it's worth watching. If you get the chance, try to watch em fast and then go watch the 3rd rebuild movie in theaters: http://www.elevenarts.net/th_gallery/evangelion-3-0-you-can-not-redo/

Always been a dream of mine to see NGE in theaters. I mean like god damn it would be so epic watching the angel battles on the big screen. Hnnnng.

Oculus Rift that shit, and then be depressed when you look around and see you're the only one in the theatre. And then take off the rift and notice that the world has decayed and all whom you used to know have fallen to the world of death and desolation.

2003's Wrath. I know he's a villain and he's supposed to be all misunderstood but no character in the history of TV has ever made me want to punch my monitor as much as him. Even after his redemption I still can't stand the sniveling little brat. Shoulda called him "Whine".

I am shocked that Mushi-shi hasn't been suggested yet. It's a good anime about creatures called mushi that only a small amount of people who see them. These people normally train as mushi masters that travel around the world to make sure that humans and mushi live coherently together.

I am planing on reading the manga soon because there are only 26 episodes in the anime and it leaves you wanting more. At least it did for me I also plan on watching the live action movie sometime as well.

Elfen Leid was ok, but there was a lot of nudity/sexual content that just felt like they stuck it in there to get guys to watch, and none of it had any point other than for the sake of over-sexualizing it.

If I want that I'll go watch porn instead :P

Well yeah, the first episode is practically straight up non-confrontational fan service. but i mean it still attributes to the story, just vaguely acceptable levels though.

Elfen Lied is pretty damn great though it was the series that started getting me back into anime thanks to Inject. Good series, such good.

Yeah, I mean it wasn't bad and had some great story points, but I just have beef with the sheer volume of fanservice, its an outstanding issue I have with anime in general, I mean, theres way too many animes with friggin 16 year old girls with tits the size of watermelons, so creepy.

If so, I recommend putting Gintama lower on the list, as its got probably more than 250 episodes by now and still going. Haven't bother to check, it was at around 218 about 2 years ago or something....

Either that or just watch episodes periodically. It's a comedy anime so there's not really an ongoing story you have to follow. Theres usually a short action based filler that last from 2 to 5 episodes maybe once every 30 episodes.

More like if you want to watch 300 episodes of pure plot and 700 episodes of well-animated badass combat, watch One Piece. ;D

I started watching Log Horizon today, and caught up to all the episodes now... The best  'We are stuck in an mmo now' animes. They aren't interested in trying to leave, they are interested in making their lives enjoyable since they don't know anything about getting out. No leads or anything. Not only that, but the main character is also not a fire-headed wanna be badass. Hes calm, levelheaded, and a strategist, a nice change of pace.

How does everyone here feel about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Kill La Kill?

I watched the dub of one piece when it first came out for a season and it was pretty freakin' cool. They stopped showing it on my TV provider though so I never continued. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews, mostly about their sheer number of characters, but I know that at the begginning at least it was alright.

I really enjoyed Naruto, both the TV show and the graphic novels for quite a while. Also I know a lot of people that really enjoyed Bleach, surprised I haven't seen it on here already.

As far as recommendations go I think it really depends on the person's subjective taste. Theres really no way of knowing if someone is going to enjoy something or not. I remember when I first starting watching anime I would only watch shounen like dbz, inuyasha and yu yu hakusho. It was only after I tried different things and got older did I expand my taste.
