[ZPS] WEB ZPS "TECH" Survival Guide
« on: July 08, 2011, 10:57:45 PM »
Here are some tips and a chance to see what I use for gaming in ZPS. I will be editing this post for more tips and pictures. Feel free to post your tips/gear you use to play ZPS.

Tip 1: SSDs

SSDs are much faster than HDDs. 240GB for steam, 120GB for OS, 90GB for data files (OCZ Vertex 2).

Tip 2: Back-light Gaming Keyboard

Good for playing at night. Gaming Keyboard > Regular Keyboard.

Tip 3: Fast Internet

Self explanatory.

Tip 4: Change Resolution and Graphic Settings.
Lower resolution mean bigger objects. Lower graphic settings mean higher fps.
My resolution is 640x480 with the 4:3 ratio and everything else on the lowest setting.

Tip 5: Gaming Mouse
I use the Razer Mamba for the wireless and 1000Hz Ultrapolling / 1ms response rate. Always try to get at least 1000Hz Ultrapolling for a mouse.

Headset, mouse and more coming soon!

Don't hate.

And I am currently very interested in purchasing a backlit keyboard, I just would also appreciate extra buttons, like "G1-G10" or something.

Also, from my understanding, an SSD is a solid state drive that instead of using electro mechanical spinning disk mechanisms like a HDD, it's the same idea just in a "microchip form" that can essentially work faster, but is more expensive per gigabyte? I'm thinking about seriously upgrading my computer already, thinking about getting a faster processor/motherboard, graphics card and all thatt. Though having 3 HDD's, or SDD's to split up the work sounds nice, I only have space for two in my current case though I believe. How much do they run and do they hook up the same?

This whole thing is a travesty.

For starters, Pillz is obviously the sexiest.

SSDs are very big improvements.

My 240 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233182
Sustained Sequential Read Up to 550 MB/s
Sustained Sequential Write Up to 520 MB/s

My 120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233181
Sustained Sequential Read Up to 550 MB/s
Sustained Sequential Write Up to 510 MB/s

I will benchmark mine and let you know what I actually get once I order the SATA 3.0 cables. But SSDs are just like HDDs when connecting them in the PC. However enable AHCI mode for performance boost before installing Windows 7.

Wow you guys have great speeds. Nice Pillz! I had a keyboard with extra buttons but after a while stopped using them. So my new one I figure to save on space and money.

You should include the resolution tip, the one about playing on a low resolution.

I usually go for a 1440x900 but when you said that you used a 720x480, it was such a pain to play on. Heads are bigger and easier to get headshots i admit, but lol its that bad of a resolution.

Heads are easier to pick on but at the cost of a bad gaming quality/detail.

I noticed this before but my monitor is exactly 1400x900 so I enjoy playing with that, but the crosshair is so fucking tiny..

I almost wish I had a tracball sometimes, so I could use my mouse on glass. Mine doesn't use any kind of red light or anything either, it's like, an invisible light. I didn't know they made invisible light anymore. Wat
