Good friend Shadowlag found out a new way to delete it~

9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: it's just right in the main steam directory
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: C:\Program Files\Steam
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: "config"
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: delete the whole folder
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: it will force them to re-validate steam
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: in other words, get the email with the key to type in
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: and it will rdl some shit
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: re-dl*
9:20 PM - r_shadowlag CS:S: but worked like a charm.

If that doesn't fix it, you have to completely re-install steam. I'm not sure if it will work if you save all your games before hand but you can try. I'd suggest saving Demo files and anything that the Cloud doesn't save, or whatever.

Copy your steam apps folder to your desktop before uninstalling steam to prevent that

Well their is another way because i used that one and my comp never worked. Reinstall steam by deleting your original one. but then you will need to redownload all of your games.

You might need to do the same with the userdata folder from what I have read.

Entirely my bad. Didn't realize it was a sticky and not a new topic. I need to pay more attention.

Global Moderator Comment To repeat myself. Necro does NOT apply here. This is a STICKIED thread. Stickied threads DO NOT have the necro rule. Cadaver

Anyways back on topic, I've read that on the Neotokyo Topic Forums that you have to delete your userdata.
So I am not entirely sure but, since ZPS is downloadable via steam and any steam games downloadable through it might rely on the config WHILE in mods like ZM, NMRIH, NT, etc might rely on userdata.

Or you can delete either just so you can re-validate your steam.

But from what i seen, deleting userdata doesn't work 100% of the time while deleting config does.
Based on this http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2444816.

NOTE: READ THE FORUM RULES. NECRO DOES NOT APPLY TO STICKIES.

Also, this works better than what is listed above:

 Getting 'Invalid Steam UserID Ticket' message?

This is a common issue after Valve's changes to 2007 SDK.

- Shut your Steam down;

- delete Steam\config\config.vdf and Steam\clientregistry.blob files;

- start Steam again, it will recreate the deleted files and the problem should be gone.

From what I've experienced, deleting the clientregistry.blob works about 75% of the time and config being 100%. But yes, deleting the client registry is the number 1 thing to do before the config.

Trial and error always works best.

didn't even know this thread existed

also some of the solutions do not work and need to be discussed more

I am glad he necroed this specific thread so I can just link people to this thread

you have no idea how tied down I get by stupid questions that can easily be googled

EDIT:  This thread was stickied and should exempt any "necro"

IE picture wars or rules thread

this thread is still 100% relevant to the zps and cg community

I had this problem on ZM, what I did is I deleted everything besides Steamapps and Steam.exe while steam is shut down ofcourse, after everything was deleted I launched Steam.exe from inside the folder so everything starts redownloading, I tried to join and voila, back to normal.

(I did it this way because deleting stuff like userdata and config and renaming that .blob file didn't work but everything was fixed after doing the stuff I mentioned above!)
