Why does my state have to have a blind govenor?

Someone please explain to me how we got Governor Patterson to be in office. When he signs bills he has his nose on the paper.

So should governor Patterson be able to still be governor even though he considered legally blind?

I can understand how sight would be helpful, but I don't think sight is a complete necessity to be a governor. He's not totally blind either. All you need is the ability to hear and speak.

I'm not completely sure. If he got elected into office though, the competition must of been Hellen Keller.
