WTF VALVE! New HL2 update breaks mods.

So a bunch of the unnoficial HL2 mods I have are now unplayable because of a recent update to HL2.  They fucking updated HL2, a game almost a DECADE OLD WTF.  So I'm pissed since I was halfway through SMOD with all its crazy awesome custom guns and items, and now I load the game and all the custom guns dont load (only original HL2 guns) no custom sounds and the HUD is fucked.  Not to mention I'm having big issues with Obsidian Conflict.

What the heck did they do to HL2 that broke all the mods?!

Well they added achievements for that and EP 1. Not that I reAlly give a shit about Steam achievements. They are not as good as Ps3 trophies and xbox gamer points.

I'm just glad Research and Development still works, if they had fucked up that game (one of THE best unofficial mods with amazing side-story to HL2 but more puzzle-based) I would have gone to their headquarters with a sword and start lopping off heads.  It seems any mod unable to run on the orange box engine meaning directly modded on HL2 and its files was fucked up the most.

Yeah, I noticed the original HL2 engine switched over apparently. I can't play it full screen anymore. It does that for all OB engine games for me.

they should fix it though if it is that major of a problem to break half the mods

I've determined its ONLY mods that use the base HL2 files, most other mods I have are based on the orange box engine so they still work, but anything using the original HL2 source setup does not work.
