Official Rules
If it isn't here, it isn't valid.

1. Do not cheat.

1a. This includes any type of hack or Lua script that gives you an advantage. This includes any type of
aimbot, esp, player information viewer, and any type of x-ray.

1b. Old fashioned scripts to help you switch weapons quickly/burst fire/etc are allowed.

2. Do not disrespect admin or command an admin to do anything.

2a. This includes saying things such as "Admin ban Player35 because he rdmed me." You should simply
say "Player 35 RDM'd me" and the admin will choose a course of action.

2b. This rule includes blatantly insulting the admin in any manner, profanity or not.

3. Do not randomly kill people with no reason behind it.

3a. This includes killing people for stupid reasons such as "They followed me" or "They were looking at
me funny."

3b. The only valid reasons for killing someone is caught in the act of: theft, trespassing, or
murder/attempted murder. They can also be killed for threatening you in a serious fashion.

3c. Never kill someone for being caught breaking a rule. Simply report them to an admin and let the
admin handle the situation.

3d. If you have your job set to "Serial Killer" or "Hitman" and all you do is kill people because it is your
"job" you will be permabanned for stupidity.

3e. Killing anyone who freshly spawned for any reason will result in severe punishment.

4. Do not prop block.

4a. Never block the entrance to someone's house with a prop.

4b. Never block off major areas of the map to serve as your "base."

4c. This rule also covers prop surfing. Do not do it, you will be punished.

5. Respect all other players

5a. This includes racism. Any use of racial slurs or hate speech will be quickly dealt with.

5b. We don't care about your political or religious views. Don't discuss this.

6. Theft is allowed.

6a. Theft, however, is against "City Laws."

7. Have a damn good reason for putting out a warrant.

7a. Good suspicion.

7b. Selling weapons without permit.

7c. Selling drugs.

7d. Housing criminals.

7e. Searching for a suspect.

8. Abusive cops will be dealt with.

8a. Randomly warranting.

8b. Randomly killing people.

8c. Randomly arresting.

8d. Working with criminals.

8e. None of that "Dirty Cop" bullshit.

9. DO NOT METAGAME

9a. Do not use sparks shooting through walls as signs of printers even though it is. You have to see them directly.

9b. Do not use the kill notifications as proof of a murder.

9c. Do not use OOC chat to make deals/find locations/discuss RP things.

10. We Enforce the New Life Rule

10.a If you are killed you can't go back and kill that person or arrest them

I am going to need gamemode suggestions. I need to know what gamemodes people want so I can fix them/make sure they work/possibly sexify them/add them to the server/get the best maps/make the experience as smooth as possible.

Programming / Learn To Script Lua

Follow these steps then maggot!

Download the program Notepad++. This program is great for scripting in the Garry's Mod Lua syntax because it has a highlighting plugin made for it that makes scripting much easier. Once you get the Garry's Mod plugin, install all the files in the zip you downloaded into the programfiles/notepad++/plugin directory. Start up Notepad++ and click on the language tab at the top and you should see the language "Gmod Lua" selectable, select that and you are ready to start learning!

This website is your god for the rest of your scripting career.

Garry's Mod Lua Wiki

This website has every function, hook, and command that you can give in Garry's Mod with Lua, and then some. If you ever see something you don't understand, just go to that wiki page and search for it. This is how you will learn how things work generally, and how you will memorize functions and hooks to speed up your scripting.

Starter Lua Tutorials

Read those and make sure you fully understand them. After that, you are on your way to understanding Lua.

PLEASE, I am BEGGING you. Post all the questions you have about Lua coding in this thread. I will gladly answer anything you are confused on. It's what I am here for.

Make a simple deathmatch gamemode with a simple custom hud, without Fretta.
Make a melon that follows you around.
Make a script that allows you to charge up your jump, with a simple hud bar to gauge the power.
Take a crack at making your own custom scoreboard.
Make zombie NPCs spawn at random locations on a map, and not get stuck in walls.

Think of this gamemode as a combination of Redead and Infected Wars.

Bitchin' gore!
Bitchin' teams!
Bitchin' weapons!
Bitchin' zombies!

You join on the side of the Sanctorum (Latin for Saints) and you select your class. Once the round begins, a random player is chosen to be on the side of the Demonata. After that player is selected, zombies start spawning from all locations in the map. They will chase you no matter where you hide. The Demonata players are lesser equipped and weaker, but have infinite spawns. The goal of the Sanctorum is to survive until the round is over and helicopter support arrives. Players get points by killing Demonata players and helping other players survive by giving health and ammo if their class allows it.
