Audio isolation help
« on: January 01, 2012, 05:45:59 AM »
Im trying to figure out how to isolate ingame audio leaving only the voice audio. The thing is, in source games you have only 3 options, game sound, music sound and voice sound.
By increasing the voice sound to max and game sound to medium or low, it will make the voice sound you hear  to low-medium. Any suggestions?

Try this,

in taskbar, click on "Speakers"
click on "Sounds"
when the window pops up, click on the "Communications" tab
check "Mute other sounds"

I don't know if the voice in the source games counts as a communications in windows, but it does mess up Ventrilo

ignore my settings and put what you need if it works

Im primarily trying to get the in-gaming source audio, which is completely reliable on its own system without windows audio config.

For source games there's a command you can enter in the console that disables sound. Game sound and voice are separate so you should be able to just set the game sounds to 0 and go on you merrily way. You'd have to look up the cvar though...
