Has anyone tried it out yet? It's free to download the beta packet https://www.wizards.com/dnd/dndnext.aspx by just giving your email and making a password.

Anyone want to play a game of it on roll20 with me?

Way Off Topic Box / Re: Feels thread?

Everything is meaningless now, hooray.
I used to feel fucking depressed about everything and that got worse and worse, I thought it was better but now I'm just so apathetic I don't know what's going on or if I should give a shit.

I should go to the doctors but why? am I actually depressed? And what can they do about it? Can't go to the doctors this week as EXAMS AND SHIT which I'll flop and get shit grades - which by the way I can't care about at all fsr, and I really, really need to, or should.

So yeah.

Medicine for depression does help somewhat. It does for me at least.

I highly doubt he was the highest ranked out of just playing, it was fairly common for people to have hacked leaderboard stats in that game, as many of my friends did when I use to play it a lot.

Slightly off topic. Pyro and I will compose a European Dream Team for the Hidden. So far, it is us two.
This infringes on my rights as an american, let me join or I'll sew your asses  smug

Sew?

Or sue?

One is more terrifying than the other.

Lol, this is one of the dumbest threads I've ever read. I'm not sure what to say to you if you can't understand why women and men aren't considered equal in combat.

giving myself lobotomy brb

22
Bam.

I have been at work. HOW the hell did this turn into a sexism thing??

Men can be drafted while women can not.

23
I hate to have to be the one to break it to you people but there is not such thing as equality, we don't live in a prefect world where there are no genders or races where people have adapted differently due to the challenges faced.

Just because equality isn't there doesn't mean we can't strive for it.

24
I was finally able to word my main point right.

You guys aren't argueing that women should have equality, having to also be drafted. More so you are saying that "If I have to fight and die. So do they!!!"
That's equality.

That's unnoble.
I could care less about chivalry and nobility. These aren't the middle ages anymore.

"I could care less about chivalry and nobility."
Welcome to 2013 people where Chivalry is truly dead and nobility is pissed on.

Good luck trying to establish some kind of moral higher power to individuals that don't care about it. People don't need to actively try and sway women off of their feet or have to act noble to be a good person. I will gladly piss on chivalry and nobility because I don't need those sort of concepts to be a decent human being to everyone regardless of who or what they are.

Good job?

If a man has to be drafted then a woman must as well.
That is being equal in sex.
It doesn't get any simpler than that.

If men are going to be drafted while women are not because they are men and they are women then that is sexist.

I'm completely for men and women to be equal in the military, but what I am not for is the forcing of individuals (regardless of gender) to have to join if the need was to arise.

UN-NOBLE?! WTF IS "NOBLE" SUPPOSED TO MEAN HERE? IT'S UN-NOBLE TO THINK THAT A WOMAN HAS HIGHER PRIVILEGE THAN A MAN LIKE THIS OR A MAN HAS THE HIGHER OBLIGATION TO GO THE ARMY

It's just sexist to think that a woman is any less than a man and that a man has to be the one to be drafted while a woman does not.

To me its like holding the door open for a girl.

Being forced into war and HOLDING A GOD DAMN DOOR OPEN ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS
And if you only open doors for girls instead of ANY INDIVIDUAL that is borderline sexist.
I hold the damn door open for whoever is behind me or walking out/in when I can get there first, I don't care what sex they are.

Quote
It's not sexist just how society has evolved into.
Society can "evolve" into sexist ideals.
The aspect of chivalry of having to protect a woman because she is a woman and the man is the knight in shining armor because he is a man is sexist, no matter how you look at it.

Back to women not being included in the draft. If they want they can go enlist if they really wanted to fight. But honestly, what happened to common courtesy instead of sexism. That woman is a sister, daughter, or a mom. Now imagine the orphan/brother who won't see her for a few years or come back in a coffin.
Your logic is flawed. Men can have siblings/parents/kids too.

My argument was that if a draft was enacted, a male would step up and fight. A woman doesn't need to have to fight unless she wants too. It's more socially acceptable to hear a male soldiers death than a females. It's more infuriating to hear that a woman was captured than a man as a POW.

Don't get me wrong, males aren't all superman and have to "tough it out". Hell, I'm still afraid of death, but its reassuring for me that my sister doesn't also have to fight.

Explain to me how it isn't sexist that women aren't forced to join but a man is. I don't give a fuck what is socially acceptable, do you know what was "socially acceptable" in Nazi Germany? Or even in modern times, when it is socially acceptable in some countries that are under a theocracy to use their religion as an excuse to rape others.

Common courtesy?

That man is a brother, son, or a father. Now imagine the individuals who will not see him that care about him for a few years or come back in a coffin.
Men and women are equal and it makes no sense to single out one gender for the draft over the other.
Women don't need men specifically to protect them and men don't need women specifically to protect them. Each needs individual volunteers who of their own free will will do it.

If you honestly think that there would be a lack of finding recruits during wartime in America where everyone is so patriotic that it burns then please stop.

I knew nothing about this because I have never been told about it before.

It doesn't matter what gender you are you can serve in the military. Thinking otherwise is just pure sexism. If women do not have to be drafted then why do men?
And that just leads to more questions such as: who would stay behind if we did cut out the sexist nature of it? If we didn't, is it right to have some men who would rather stay at home be fighting but keep some women at home who would love to fight?

What do draftees do to fight? Do they have to go to bootcamp to train or do they just go straight into battle, I'm just asking here. Cause if the very small chance that I was selected and we had to go to bootcamp I would be kicked out. It wouldn't even be on purpose, it's because I don't take kindly to cranky people yelling at me and I would just laugh at them and leave. If it was just being thrown into battle then I would be a deserter. I will not fight. It goes against every belief that I hold to fight to kill another individual who has not directly harmed me or another that I know.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_Service_System

This is the system that is in the U.S., while not really a draft forcing people to join immediately it is still forcing them to go in case of war. If you don't sign up, you could potentially be fined and be unable to get a government job. If someone has more knowledge on the subject I would be glad to hear it.

I think it is utter bullshit. I didn't ever plan on serving in the military and I sure as well don't want to sign something saying that I will under the threat of being unable to get any grant to go to college or a fine, not to mention that it is singling out men compared to women who do not have to register.
Didn't liam already tell you this in vent a few months ago?

Dude I don't remember what happened yesterday let alone a few months ago. I probably wasn't listening anyway. All I know is my Latin teacher was talking about this for some reason cuz someone is turning 18 soon and it just got me all worked up.
